IntroductionNo big chunks of onion like Mom's had! Yay! No big chunks of onion like Mom's had! Yay!
1 lb. extra lean ground beef
1 lb. ground chicken or turkey
1/2 cup A1 sauce (or to taste)
1 1/2 Tbsp. garlic powder (or to taste)
1 tsp. onion powder(optional, and to taste)
1 tbsp. dried basil(optional)
1/3 cup Egg Beaters or Better'n Eggs
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup A1
1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup water
Pre-heat oven to 375 F.
Mix first 8 ingredients in a big bowl. Use your (clean)hands, it's much easier.
Shape meat into a loaf shape, and put in baking pan. Bake for 45 minutes.
Mix ketchup, A1, water and brown sugar, stir until well combined. Remove meatloaf from the oven and baste with sauce. Return to oven and bake another 15 minutes.
Use left over sauce, if you desire, to pour over slices of loaf after you have cut it.

Kids once again loved it. Seemed a little greasy to me and I used the lean ground beef. Great flavor. Will make again trying ground turkey to try for less grease. - 6/21/09
