Ma's - Homemade Granola (1/4 cup serving size)

Introduction

9 cups of granola is the finished product.

Number of Servings: 36

Ingredients

    4 Cups Old Fashioned Quaker Oatmeal- Plain
    1 Cup Wheat germ, crude
    1/2 Cup Barley Flakes (or Rye Flakes)
    1/4 Cup Sesame Seeds
    1/4 Cup Sunflower Seeds
    1/2 to 3/4 tsp Cinnamon, ground
    1/8 to 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
    2 Tblsp Canola Oil
    1/2 Cup Honey
    1/2 Apple Cider (or Apple juice not sweetened)
    1 1/2 Cup Apricots, dried, cut into halves
    1/2 Cup Raisins (used home dried so they are large cut in 1/2 or 1/3's)
    1 Cup Almonds, Whole (chop with knife before adding to mixture)
    1/2 Cup Semisweet chocolate chips (Minitures if you want them to melt in or wait until mixture cools and use minitures or regular size chips)

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees Farenheit.

In a large bowl mix the following.
4 Cups Old Fashioned Quaker Oatmeal- Plain
1 Cup Wheat germ, crude
1/2 Cup Barley Flakes (or Rye Flakes)
1/4 Cup Sesame Seeds
1/4 Cup Sunflower Seeds
1/2 to 3/4 tsp Cinnamon, ground
1/8 to 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt

In a small saucepan heat
2 Tblsp Canola Oil
1/2 Cup Honey
1/2 Apple Cider (or Apple juice not sweetened) or use water

Once dissolved pour over above mixture and stir until well coated.

Put mixture into a jelly roll pan and back for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Stirring every 10 minutes.

During the last 5 minutes of baking stir in the following:
1 1/2 Cup Apricots, dried, cut into halves
1/2 Cup Raisins (used home dried so they are large cut in 1/2 or 1/3's)
1 Cup Almonds, Whole (chop with knife before adding to mixture)

Pull mixture out of oven and you can add the chocolate immediately stirring very well or wait until mixture is cooled and add at that time.

Store in an airtight container and freeze to keep fresh.
