Basic Hummus

Introduction

This is a simple recipe for hummus that does not use tahini. You can improvise and add rosted red bell peppers or olives or whatever you want! This is a simple recipe for hummus that does not use tahini. You can improvise and add rosted red bell peppers or olives or whatever you want!

Ingredients

    1 can (16 oz) garbanzo beans
    1 tbs sesame seeds
    4 cloves garlic
    1 lemon's juice
    2 tbs olive oil
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Toast the seseame seeds in a dry skillet and put in the food processor with 1 tbs olive oil. Puree this.

In the skillet, add the crushed garlic cloves and 1 tbs olive oil and saute until the garlic is soft. At this, lemon juice, chickpeas, and about a table spoos of the chickpea reserve liquid. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper and puree. Keep adding the chickpea reserve liquid until you get to your desired consistency.

Makes 12 servings.
