Chickpeas with broccoli and bacon

Introduction

Found the original recipe in Cooking Light magazine, adapted it a bit to fit my needs. Found the original recipe in Cooking Light magazine, adapted it a bit to fit my needs.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 pound Broccoli, chopped to bite sized pieces
    6 slices center cut bacon
    1 cup chopped onion
    1/2 t dried oregano
    1/8 t crushed red pepper
    6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
    1 (15oz) can chickpeas, drained
    1/4 t salt
    parmesan cheese

Directions

Cook broccoli in boiling water until crisp-tender, drain.
Cut bacon with scissors, cook in large skillet. When crispy, drain off most fat, but leave some for cooking.
Cook onion in pan with bacon. Add oregano and crushed red pepper. When onion is cooked nearly through, add garlic. Cook until fragrant. Add chickpeas, cook until hot. Add broccoli and salt, cook until heated through. Serve warm with cheese sprinkled on top. Serves 4.
