1.5 cup flour 1.25 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 2 egg whites 1 cup mashed banana 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup applesauce
Combine banana, egg whites, applesauce, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Add dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt) until well mixed. Pour batter into bread pan sprayed with cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the loaf comes out clean.
This was a good recipe! I'm always looking for ways to cut down oil and sugar and this one was still good. I used 1c. WW pastry flour and 1/2 C white. Also added about 1/2 c golden raisins. It didn't rise too tall, but was still tasty. Will make it again! Makes 1 big loaf.
LOVE THIS RECIPE! I like to use extra banana so I have to add more baking soda and baking powder. If you aren't worried about using the yolk, leave one yolk as well. I have used this basic recipe but then added all kinds of twists to make it "tropical" banana bread or other fun ideas.
Great recipe I only use 1/2 C sugar or I use Splenda blend and only about 1/3 C I add more cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg also, this time I added oats and brown sugar on the top for a different effect. I love this recipe and have done it many times I cannot eat fat so it is perfect!
I used natural yogurt instead of applesauce (because I have not found applesauce in Norway yet), 1/2 cup of sugar, and a little less than 1/4 cup of butter. 1/2 c. was oats, and the other 1c was flour. It's baking now. The consistency looks good and the batter tasted nice. Let's see how it goes!
This receipe was excellent. Made it so my daughter wld have healthier breakfast choices in the morning and she loves it!!! Yayyyy!! I also don't feel guilty having a piece with a great cup of coffee!!
I have made muffins with this recipe several times now... my husband LOVES them (even though he isn't a big banana fan). They are so yummy and moist. I wish I could give this recipe more than 5 stars! Thanks so much!! :)
very good! i substituted for brown sugar and whole wheat flour...made it at night and enjoyed it for my breakfast. it made up a big loaf, my husband and i will keep snaking on it during the week!
Very tasty! I was out of applesauce, so I had to use oil and it was still a little dry. Maybe because I used half whole wheat flour. Will probably use a little more banana next time to help up the moisture.
This recipe was GREAT!! I used 1/2 and 1/2 ww and app flour and cut the sugar to 1/2 cup. Next time, I am going to cut the sugar to 1/3 cup. Was still abit too sweet for me. I made them into 24 mini muffins for my family for quick snacks. Great, quick and easy recipe to use up the last 3 bananas!!
To those that have already made it, how much does one serving weigh when there are 20 servings per loaf? I'm sure I'd eat too much if I baked it, but recipe sounds great. I probably wouldn't add so much sugar though.
Thanks CALICAT1977 for receipe. For those that have wheat allergies I used Spelt Flour and added 1/4 c Flaxseed meal, also added 1/2 c waltnuts and brown sugar. Mix all dry ingredients including the sugar & cinnamon. Beat egg whites, and combine with bananas, applesauce, and vanilla. Great!!!
This recipe was delicious! I used sugar- I know, not the healthiest option and it increases the calorie count, but it's what I had on hand. It's still healthier than most banana breads I've made, and everyone loved it!
