Char's Ground Beef Skillet Supper

Submitted by: CHARDANU

Introduction

The hardest thing you have to do is to slice up the onion and green pepper! The rest is a snap and if you serve it up with Success Brown rice and a can of French cut green beans, you've got a supper that only takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare. Ingredients

    1.5 lb. lean ground beef
    1 large onion
    1 green bell pepper
1 clove or 1 TBS. minced garlic
    1 TBS light olive oil
    1 TBS worcestershire sauce
    Mrs. Dash, regular
1-2 TBS. steak sauce (like A-1)
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

6 1/2 cup servings

Slice onion & green pepper into 1 inch long pieces. Put olive oil in pan, turn heat to medium high. Add onion & green pepper slices and garlic. Fry, stirring, reduce the heat and put on lid for 1 or 2 minutes. Lift the lid, raise the heat back up and continue to saute until vegetables are tender. Remove from pan and keep warm.
Turn up heat to high, put ground beef in pan and cook, breaking up the beef using a fork, pastry blender or back of wooden spoon. When beef is completely broken up and about half-way done, add the worcestershire sauce, spreading evenly and stir into the beef. Continue to fry until beef is completely brown. When done, drain the beef in large collander if necessary. Put beef back in skillet and keep heat on low.
Sprinkle the top of beef with Mrs. Dash, evenly and lightly over the surface.
Add the cooked onion, green pepper and garlic. Stir. Add 1 TBSP. steak sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Add another TBS steak sauce if you prefer. Stir completely and turn off heat. Fill a 1/2 cup measuring cup with beef fry to make the serving.
Very nice served with 1/2 cup serving of Success brown rice (75 cals.) and 1/2 cup french cut green beans, (13 cals.)

Both my husband and mother-in-law liked it. I also liked it. They said that it would also be great in tacos, pita bread, or cooked as a ground beef and rice dish. Would be great with cheese and/or corn. - 11/8/12
