Red Meat Sauce

Introduction

For use with spaghetti or lasagna For use with spaghetti or lasagna
Number of Servings: 22

Ingredients

    2 lb. lean ground beef
    2 tbsp olive oil
    1 large onion, chopped
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 whole bay leaf
    2 tsp. basil
    2 tsp oregano
    3/4 cup red wine
    3 28-oz cans crushed tomatoes
    1 carrot, finely chopped
    salt & pepper

Directions

In large pot, heat oil on med-hi heat and brown meat. Stir in onion and cook for 4 minutes. Stir in garlic, bay leaf, basil, and oregano. Add wine, tomatoes and carrot. Bring to boil, reduce heat to med-lo. Simmer uncovered until sauce thickens, about 45 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
