Whole wheat biscuits, no sugar added

Submitted by: LUSN010

Introduction

Adapted from a white-flour biscuit recipe, just a simple substitution. Adapted from a white-flour biscuit recipe, just a simple substitution.
Number of Servings: 9

Ingredients

    3 cups Whole wheat flour
    4 tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp Salt (doesn't have to be exact. 1/2 would work fine)
    3/4 tsp Cream of Tartar
    3/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cup Buttermilk (if using regular milk only use 1 cup)

Directions

Mix together dry ingredients, cut in butter. Add buttermilk all at once, and pat out to 1/2-1 inch thick.
Cut as desired, this makes about 9 biscuits with the rim of my drinking glasses, but could probably make 12 smaller servings with a regular biscuit cutter.
Bake at 450 F for 10-12 minutes
