Introduction

Homemade applesauce... sweet and tangy, the way it should be! Chill and eat plain as a snack, heat it and serve over ice cream or frozen yogurt as a dessert, add to oatmeal in the mornings... the possibilities are endless! Homemade applesauce... sweet and tangy, the way it should be! Chill and eat plain as a snack, heat it and serve over ice cream or frozen yogurt as a dessert, add to oatmeal in the mornings... the possibilities are endless!
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    3 pounds chopped and peeled apples
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1/4 cup dark brown sugar
    1 cup water
    2 cinnamon sticks
    4 Tbsp lemon juice

Directions

Mix together in a large pot. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Mash up larger chunks with a potato masher if desired. Makes about 6 cups of applesauce, calculated as 12 servings of half a cup each. Enjoy!
