Baked Beans - Homemade

Submitted by: BAYBELIEVER

Number of Servings: 24

Ingredients

    2 lbs. dry navy beans
    1.5 c molasses
    1 cup brown sugar, packed
    1 Tbsp yellow mustard
    8 medium slices bacon
    1 large onion, sliced
1/4 tsp salt (optional; not included in nutrition info)
    1/4 tsp pepper

Directions

Soak dry beans in enough water to cover by 3 inches overnight. In morning, boil beans (simmer) for about 1-1.5 hours. Drain beans, reserving liquid. Layer beans, onions, bacon in baking dish. Repeat as needed, ending with bacon. Mix remaining ingredients and some of the leftover liquid and pour over beans. Add enough liquid or water to just nearly cover the beans. Cover baking dish with foil and cook in 350 degree oven for 4-5 hours, stirring occasionally and adding water if necessary.
