Ingredients
-
yeast 1 ounce (remove)
Milk, nonfat, 2 cup (remove)
Egg, fresh, 1 large (remove)
Granulated Sugar, .25 cup (remove)
Margarine like spread, approximately 60% fat, .25 cup (remove)
*Flour, white, 6 cup (remove)
Directions
Stir 1 pkg yeast into 1/4 cup WARM water
Scald (heat to bath water temp) milk.
Melt margarine. Add to milk. Add sugar, & egg. Stir. Stir in 2 cups flour. Add yeast. Add enough flour to make soft batter (abt 4 cups). I mix mine in a stand mixer with a bread hook.
Turn into greased bowl. Cover with a warm, damp cloth. Let rise in warm place till doubled. (abt 2 hrs.)
Punch down. Let rest for 10 min.
Divide in 2.
Divide each ball into 24 golf ball sized ball. (2x24=48). Place in baking dish. (It is important to work quick enough to keep dough warm.)
Place baking dish or dishes in warm place, & let rise till double (abt 90 min).
Bake @ 350' till golden (25-30 min).
* This can be made into cinnamon rolls by using one of the 2 large divided doughs. Roll it 1/2" thick. Mix 1/4 cup sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Spread it on dough. Roll the dough by the long side. (Like a jelly roll.) Cut it into 12 pieces. Place in baking dish, & let rise, & bake like dinner rolls. Ice with 1 cup powdered sugar mixed with enough milk (1 Tablespoon) to make drizzling consistency.
