Tuna Melt

Ingredients

    1 can albacore tuna packed in water
    1 tbsp pickle relish
    2 tbsp Hellmans low fat mayonnaise
    3 tbsp chopped onion
    2 slices medium tomato
    1 slice swiss cheese
    1 English muffin

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Mix tuna, onion, mayonnaise & pickle relish in a bowl until well combined.

3. Lightly toast english muffin place a spoonful of tuna mixture on each half of english muffin top with one slice of tomato and half piece swiss chesse each.

4.Bake for about 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbly

    You can increase fiber and lower calorie count by using a Thomas light whole grain English muffin. I make this with a laughing cow light cheese wedge--only 35 calories. You can also add olives, a little onion to the tuna. I use a tuna pouch, no draining & 80 calories - 1/24/10

    Very tasty. I added a stalk of celery for a little added crunch. I also toasted the bread before adding the tuna salad and then put it under the broiler to melt the cheese YUMMY - 7/2/10

    I make something very similar, but a lot less fattening... I add 1 tsp. mustard to the tuna mix for some extra zing and I use wasa fibre crispbread instead of the english muffin. - 7/18/10

    Great!It's so easy to make and taste fantastic! I did not end up using all the tuna and This meal ended up being about 409 calories according to my Nutrition Tacker. Which is fine! I will defiantly be making this again! - 8/12/09

  • This is a quick and healthy option for lunch or dinner on the run. I substituted salsa for the relish and added a tsp of mustard (as suggested by others) and it tasted great. I had enough tuna left over for at least 2 more servings. Will probably add more mustard and spices for more kick next time. - 5/17/13

  • This was a very tasty and filling sandwich. I used the larger 6 oz. can of tuna. That way I had enough to make a sandwich the next day as well. I used dill relish which gave it a nice flavor. - 12/14/11

  • I would think it would be five or six WW points ... Mayo - 1 pt., 2 pts for tuna, 1 or 2 for the English Muffin (Whole Wheat would be best), and depending on the weight of the Swiss cheese slice, it could be 3 points (better to used reduced fat). so more than 5 but less than 10 - 4/15/09

  • AWILDER4 is right. The calories are based on 1 serving of tuna, not the whole can. It also only uses 1 tomato slice in it's calculation although the recipe says 2 slices. I know, not a big deal. But 1 serving tuna, vs the whole can (at 2.5 servings) is a big deal if you're counting calories. - 11/18/08
