Ingredients

    2 cups asparagus,chopped
    1 cup chicken broth (low salt)
    .5 tsp fresh thyme
    1 garlic clove
    1 Tbsp flour
    2 cup lowfat milk
    .25 - .50 tsp nutmeg
    2 tsp butter
    2 tsp tamarind paste
    .5 vidalia onion chopped

Directions

serves 2
combine asparagus , onion , broth , bay leaf ,garlic and thyme in sauce pan cook on medium heat covered, for about 10 -15 min. Let cool. discard bayleaf and pour into blender and process until smooth.
mix the flour with .5cup of milk until fully blended, pour into pan heat and gradually add the rest of the milk ,add the pureed asparagus/onion mixture, nutmeg.Bring to a boil , reduce heat and simmer for 5 min.remove from heat add the butter,tamarind , thyme nd salt if so desired .
