Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 medium Hass avocado
    1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/2 jalapeno pepper, chopped (ribs and seeds removed)
    2 tbsp cilantro, chopped
    1/4 cup tomato, chopped
    juice of half a lime
    salt to taste

Directions

Cut avocado in half and remove pit.
Scoop pulp out into a bowl.
Using a fork, mash avocado until smooth in consistency.
Add the juice of half a lime first to keep the avocado from turning brown.
Add onion, jalapeno, cilantro, and tomato. If you want the dip spicier, you can include the ribs and seeds of the pepper.
Starting with a teaspoon of salt, add gradually until the dip tastes well balanced or according to your dietary needs. Serves 4-6.

This was wonderfull! Iput some grilled chicken on a flat out bread and topped it with this yummy. I have already made this twice this week what a great way to get in the healthy fats.

Lovely! I used the juice of the whole lime, and added a good seasoning of garlic powder, cumin, salt, and a pinch of cayenne (no jalapeno). Nice! Makes about a cup and a half, so the serving size is about 6 servings of 4 tbsp each. Great with blue corn chips. - 5/25/08

Very simple and yummy! I had leftover salsa so I just threw it in there instead of the jalapeno and it was so good. It's Football time so bring out the "Guacamole". - 10/3/10

Excellent; I like not having to add any additional product to keep it from turing brown. This had a great color even to the next day--not that there was that much left. - 7/8/12

I've got an even easier way to make fresh guac: take 1 medium to large avocado and 1-2 Tbsp of your favorite salsa. Dash of salt, maybe a squeeze of lime, mash/mix together and voila! Fresh GUAC!!! - 5/9/13

  • I love to add greek yogurt, to make it creamier.
And @WANNABLEAN1, I know what you mean. I usually only make half an avocado's worth of guac at a time. More work for me, but better that than me wolfing down the whole thing in one sitting. - 7/2/13

  • This is an awesome recipe and so very good. Instead of chips, use veggies instead. Or use it as a spread on your sandwiches. Sometimes I use a tortilla and spread it over the tortilla and layer it with fresh veggies and salad. It's an easy fix for something fast and good for you, any time of the day - 7/2/13

  • I like chunky guacamole as per my Hispanic friends. Also, I use fresh salsa well-drained, fresh lime juice and Mt. Olive chopped jalapenos in the jar-it lasts longer and I don't have to mess with chopping hot jalapenos. No cilantro either-it's in the salsa. Fast, tasty & easy. Making some right now! - 5/9/13

  • For a "quickie" version, use fresh pico de gallo from the grocery (look in the produce section) for the onion, jalapeno and tomato -- you can usually find it in "mild", "medium" and "hot", so choose whichever suits your palette. This recipe only serves 2 in my house -- we LOVE fresh quacamole!!! - 5/9/13

  • We love guacamole! Use it as a condiment with chips or veggies or instead of mayo on your sandwiches. I like a lot of lime juice. You can substitute salsa for the peppers. Adjust the spiciness up or down. The seeds will make it spicier. I find the store made brands too salty and too smooth. - 12/7/08

I've a similar recipe except that I add garlic, cumin and chili powder to it as well. BTW the serving size is way off. There's no way one avocado can serve 6 people. I can only imagine 3 avocados serving 6-8 people provided there are other things to eat. - 5/23/08
