Toffee Coffeecake

Number of Servings: 15


    1/2 c. unsalted butter
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. Heath bar pieces
    1/4 c. sliced almonds
    1/2 c. reserved dry ingredients (See directions)


Preheat oven to 350. Butter well and lightly flour a 9x13-inch paking pan. Cream butter thoroughly. Add sugars gradually, beating well after each addition. Blend in flour and mix well. Remove 1/2 cup of crumb mixture and set aside for topping.

To prepare topping, mix Heath bar pieces with almonds and reserved 1/2 cup dry mixture. Proceed as directed below.

To the remainder of the mixture, add buttermilk, soda, agg, and vanilla. Beat until completely blended. Pour batter into prepared pan and sprinkle topping evenly over surface. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
