1 bag HamBeens 15 Bean Soup (20 oz) water 2 large carrots, sliced 1 cup chopped onion 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 tsp chili powder 1 tsp ground cumin
Place beans in a large pot and cover so there is at least 2 inches of water above beans. Soak overnight or for at least 8 hours. Drain water. Cover beans in pot with 2-3 quarts of water. Simmer uncovered for 2.5 hours. (Add water as necessary to keep beans covered and not burning.) Then add the carrots, onion, garlic, chili powder, and cumin and simmer an additional 30 minutes. Makes: 9 servings of approximately 1 cup each.
