Introduction

This is a soup that I grew up with. This Mennonite Soup recipe has my own twist to it. It doesn't usually have the garlic, sweet potato, milk or Miracle Whip in it. Instead of the milk and Miracle Whip, others usually use buttermilk or cream. This is a soup that I grew up with. This Mennonite Soup recipe has my own twist to it. Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    10 cups water
    2 cups Mennonite Style Sausage, cut into bite sized pieces
    3 cups potato,diced
    2 cups sweet potato, cubes
    1 cup onion,chopped
    4 cloves of garlic
    1 cup 2% milk
    2 tbsp Kraft Miracle Whip
    2 tsp parsley flakes
    2 tbsp fresh dill
    1/4 tsp ground black pepper
    1/4 tsp salt

Directions

Put water and sausage in large pot. Cook on medium-high heat.
Chop all other ingredients that need it. Add potatoes, onion and garlic to the pot.
Whisk milk and miracle whip together in a small bowl.
Once potatoes are almost done add the rest of the ingredients. Turn heat down to low-medium heat. To thicken the broth, mash some of the potato.
Enjoy!
Makes 10 (2 cup) servings.
