IntroductionNo-salt added tomato sauce with white wine No-salt added tomato sauce with white wine
2 small (1 large) onion, chopped
2 (14.5oz) cans diced tomatoes, no salt added
1 (6oz) can tomato paste
1/2 C dry white wine (I use chardonnay)
red pepper flakes, to taste (I use 2 shakes)
1. Spray a medium saucepan with EVOO and saute onion for 5 min. Add garlic and saute 1 min more.
2. Add tomatoes, paste, wine, oregano and red pepper, then simmer with the lid off for at least 1 hour. Use the lid if the sauce becomes thick enough to splatter.
Some sugar or honey may be added if the tomatoes are too tart after 1 hr. (not included in nutritional analysis)
