Old-Fashioned Sour Cream Cookies

Introduction

This sugar cookie recipe is an old Gold Medal Flour recipe. I have used it since my adult children were very small and always made them for their birthday parties at school. They are soft and delicious! This sugar cookie recipe is an old Gold Medal Flour recipe. Ingredients

    1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup Smart Balance 50/50 stick
    1 cup sugar
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 2/3 cups white flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 cup fat free sour cream
    Sugar
(Frosting in NOT included in calculations)

Directions

Heat over to 425 degrees (f). Mix shortening, margarine, 1 cup sugar, the egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients except sugar. Divide dough into 3 equal parts. Roll each part 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut with 2-inch cookie cutter; sprinkle with sugar (I skip this if I'm frosting them). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until no imprint remains when touched lightly, 6 to 8 minutes.

Makes 2 to 4 dozen cookies, depending on size of cookie cutter. (Frosting is NOT included in calculations)
