Water Fried Egg
Submitted by: AMBERLUIntroduction
I love fried eggs but I hate all the grease that comes with them. I've been told this is like poaching and egg, which I can't do. I tend to "steam" them instead. It's also really fast. Ingredients
-
1 egg, Medium
3 TBSP water
Directions
Take a small frying pan placing it on a burner at medium heat.
OPTIONAL: Use 2 to 3 drops of olive oil in the skillet (this is just so the egg doesn't stick if your using a non-stick pan it's usually not needed). Move the pan so that the oil very lightly coats it.
Crack your egg into the hot pan, wait until the egg white whitens. Using a small pan lid, get 3 tbsp's of water in the lip of it. Pour the small amount of water into the pan, make sure it surrounds the egg and then cover the pan with the lid. Lower the heat just a bit. Let the egg yolk steam in the water.
When the egg yolk and egg whites are noticeably done (You can cook this longer if you like a firmer yolk, also watch it closely after adding the water, it cooks fast!) simply slide the egg from your pan onto your plate.
