Sour Cream Biscuits
Submitted by: CRAFTYCIntroduction
I don't like baking powder, and have not been buying margerine. At the same time, I don't want all the sat fat of butter in my biscuits. I found a recipe for sour cream biscuits and made it healthier with whole wheat and wheat germ. Would also suggest flax, but didn't have any on hand. Ingredients
-
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
3/4 cup white flour
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 Tbsp sugar
3/4 cup low fat sour cream
1 Tbsp milk (approx)
Directions
Preheat oven to 450*
Mix dry ingredients, add wet ingred and mix in. Depending on humidity, the amount of milk may need to be adjusted. If you end up w/ a sticky dough, either make drop biscuits or add a little more flour. Otherwise form 12 biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet, bake for 15 minutes.
