    1/2 cup (125 mL) dried lima or butter beans

    1/2 cup (125 mL) dried chickpeas

    2 tablespoons (30 mL) olive oil

    1 teaspoon (5 mL) garlic, minced

    1/2 cup (125 mL) diced celery

    3/4 cup (175 mL) minced onion

    1 quart (1 litre) chicken broth

    1/3 cup (75 mL) tomato paste

    4 large Swiss chard leaves, stems removed and cut into 1-inch pieces, leaves shredded, or 1 cup (250 mL) chopped spinach leaves

    1/3 cup (75 mL) cup angel hair pasta, broken into bite-sized pieces

    2 tablespoons (30 mL) Harissa (recipe follows)

    Salt to taste

    Freshly ground black pepper to taste

    1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped parsley
