8 oz tempeh
1 Tbsp hoisin sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp ginger root, minced
2 Tbsp white wine
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp brown sugar, packed
Combine everything but the tempeh. Cut the tempeh in 4 pieces. Gently poke each piece in several places with a fork. Marinate tempeh 30 minutes or more. Grill tempeh until heated. Either baste tempeh with marinade or cook marinade briefly in a frying pan (to cook the garlic & ginger) and serve over tempeh. If you cook marinade you may need to add a little water.
*my brand tempeh is labeled as 2 servings for an 8 oz package. Nutritionally, this ends up being a very large serving. My family is all satisfied with a 2 oz serving.
