Ingredients

250 grams of panetone sliced and toasted in the oven
    4 TBS birds custard powder
    4 TBS sugar
    3 cups water
    3 oz Grand Marnier
    8 sups raspberries or strawberries
(frozen is fine if you partially defrost them)
    2 mangos peeled and diced

Directions

Slice the panetone and then toast under the broiler til golden. Watch carefully it will go from golden to burnt in a flash. We like it a bit dark for the flavor. Cut into cubes.

Make the Birds custard using 4 TBS powder, sugar and the water. Cook til it comes to a bubble and is thickened.

In a glass bowl put a layer of panetone, sprinkle with part of the grand marnier. Add half the berries and mango, then pour on part of the hot custard. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Cover and place in refrig until time to serve.

Serve with whipped cream alongside and let your friends decide if they want to top it with the cream. I can let the cream go and just really enjoy the trifle as it is.
