Crockpot refried beans

Introduction

very tasty--better than canned and I didn't use any salt. I used dry pinto beans. very tasty--better than canned and I didn't use any salt. I used dry pinto beans.
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    14 oz. bag dry pinto beans
    4 tbsp. onion powder
    2 tbsp. black pepper
    1 cup vegetable oil
    7 cups water

Directions

place beans in crockpot after rinsing with water to remove any particles,

place cold water into crockpot and soak beans overnight cover

drain in the morning and put 7 cups of fresh water

place oil onion powder and pepper into crockpot

cover and cook on high for 12 hours stirring occasionally so they don't burn on the bottom

After 12 hours will be a little soupy. recommended to mix with mixer at this point to get refried bean consistency. let cool if desired but can eat right away after mixing.

I believe itmakes approximately 16 1/2 cup servings but might be more. I stored leftovers for salads and as a topping on other items.
