Bolognese Sauce

Introduction

For spaghetti For spaghetti
Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    1 lb ground beef
    1 - 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 cup diced onion
    1 cup diced celery
    1 cup diced carrots
    3 tbsp red wine
    1/2 cup chicken broth
    1/4 cup half and half
    1 tablespoon garlic
    1/2 tsp dried italian herb blend
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Saute carrots, onions and celery in olive oil on medium heat. When they start to brown, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Add the red wine and simmer 3 minutes, then add the broth and simmer another 3 minutes. add the tomato sauce, dried herbs, garlic and salt and pepper and simmer on low for 2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes or so. Stir in the half and half right before serving. Can be easily adapted to crock pots.
