    4 chicken breast, no skin
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 quarts of cornbread crumbs
    2 tablespoons ground sage
    1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 can cream of celery soup
    1 medium onion, diced
    2 ribs celery, diced
    1 stick butter, melted
    1 can cream of chicken soup
    Chicken broth (from boiled breasts)


Place chicken breasts in pot and cover with water and add 1 teaspoon salt. Boil until chicken is tender. Remove chicken, reserving broth, and shred meat into bite size pieces.

In a separate bowl, mix cornbread crumbs, seasonings, cream of celery soup, onions, celery, and melted butter. Add enough chicken broth to make your dressing the desired consistency.

Place 1/2 of the cream of chicken soup in the bottom of the crockpot. Pour in half of the dressing mixture. Layer half of the shredded chicken. Add remaining dressing, then the rest of the chicken. Seal the top with the remaining half can of cream of chicken soup.

Put lid on crockpot and cook for 3 1/2 hours on low. Recipe can cook longer, but is ready to eat after 3-4 hours. Makes 12 servings.

    This is a really good recipe. I took it to church today and even the people who said they don't usually like dressing liked it! I only used 1 breast because it was really big, and it was good so don't think you have to have that much chicken to make this. - 9/28/08

  • This is great! I used the reduced fat/lower sodium soups and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter to make it a 'little' healthier. Also used chicken thighs. This is one of those foods that it's hard to stick to one serving, but the whole family loves it!
