Crockpot Bean Soup

Introduction

This is a simple recipe from simple people created during a simple time. This is a simple recipe from simple people created during a simple time.
Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    12 oz dried pinto beans
    12 oz dried black beans
    6 cups tap water (plus soaking water)
    12 oz salt pork
    1 stick butter

Directions

Sort beans and rinse
Cover with water and soak overnight
Chop salt pork into bite sized pieces
Rinse soaked beans
Add to crockpot with 6 cups of water and 1 stick of butter
Cook on low for 10 hours.

  • this sounds like one I make but I use pinto beans, black beans, kidney beans, whole kernel corn and jar of salsa. one can of each beans and 24 oz salsa any kind. put in crockpot and heat 2-3 hours. delicious - 1/30/11
