Ham and Beans

Submitted by: SUNNY238

Introduction

This recipe is something I threw together since I had a couple of cans of beans and a hunk of ham I needed to use. The sodium is high in the recipe from the sodium in both the beans and ham. No extra salt is added due to this. This recipe is something I threw together since I had a couple of cans of beans and a hunk of ham I needed to use. Ingredients

    .75 cup onion, diced
    1 cup carrots, chopped
    2 celery stalks, chopped
2 15oz cans great northern beans
    4 cups diced ham
    1 tsp onion powder
    .5 tsp garlic powder
    black pepper to taste

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a pot and cover with water (I didn't measure the water, sorry). Heat to boil, then drop temp to low to simmer for 30 min. Taste as you go and adjust seasonings if needed. I found the broth to be a bit salty, I added more water. I calculated this to 10 servings per pot, I am unsure the actual serving size.
