Fantastic Tuna Melt
Submitted by: GLITCHYPIXELSIntroduction
After frequenting a local restaurant I found their tuna melt had an amazing mixture of veggies, and a fantastic flavour. This is my attempt at recreating the sandwich. It's rather high in calorie, as most sandwiches are. After frequenting a local restaurant I found their tuna melt had an amazing mixture of veggies, and a fantastic flavour. Ingredients
-
1 Can of Tuna
1/4 Cup Red Onion, chopped
1/4 Cup Celery, chopped
1/4 Cup Carrots, chopped
2 Slices of Whole Wheat Bread
1 Slice Swiss (Provolone or Cheddar do nicely as well)
1 TBSP Miracle Whip (Or Mayonnaise if you prefer)
1 TSP Garlic Powder
1 TSP Paprika
1/4 TSP Celery Seed
1/8 TSP White Pepper
1/8 TSP Black Pepper
Salad Greens (Your preference on size and amount)
Hot Sauce * Optional, use at discretion. I use Habanaro Hot Sauce (The Hot Sauce from Hell) with 0 Calories.
Directions
1. Chop all veggies and mix them together in a bowl.
2. Open Can of Tuna and drain ALL WATER/OIL from the can.
3. Place Tuna in a bowl with Miracle whip and mix.
4. Add Veggies to bowl of tuna.
5. Add spices to Tuna
6. Spread Tuna Evenly onto a piece of Whole wheat bread.
7. Place ONE slice of swiss ontop.
8. Grill face down in either a pan or mini griddle. Oil is optional, I personally don't use any as it doesnt have time to stick to the pan anyway.
9. Open Sandwich and place greens ontop.
10. Cut diagonally and enjoy.
