Great comfort food or when you'r curled up in front of a fire on cold winter night. Great comfort food or when you'r curled up in front of a fire on cold winter night.

Ingredients

    Split Peas, 1134 grams ( 2- 20ounce bags dried peas)
    Ham, regular (11% fat), 6 cup, diced
    12 cups water
    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Salt and pepper to taste
    Broth (Swanson) Chicken Stock 33% Less Sodium 1carton=26oz=737g

Directions

cook ham bone covered in water with ham for about 2 hours till ham falls off bone. Drain and save broth remove ham from bones chop ham, should have about 2.5 cups chopped ham. Add onion, ham, and dried peas to broth, then add enough water to cover all. Simmer about 2 or 2 1/2 hours until peas are liquid. Watch off and on while it simmers add water if needed. makes 6 (3 cup) servings
