raisins 1 lb white, 1 cup pecans, 4 cups flour, 1 t. salt, 1 cup shortening (butter), 1 t cloves, 1.5 cups applesauce, 2 lbs gum drops, 4 eggs, 1/4 t nutmeg, 1 t cinnamin, 1 t soda, 1 t vanilla
Cream shortening and sugar and add eggs. Sift dry ingredients and save about a cup. add apple sauce and soda to wet mixture. add dry ingredients. mix gum drops, raisins, and nuts with saved flour stuff and mix into other mixture. grease and flour anglefood cake pan or one large loaf pan and 4-5 mini loaf pans. Bake about 2 hours at 325 degrees F
Make one month ahead of time and store in cool place (fridge) well wrapped.
