Split Pea Soup In the Crockpot

Introduction

Family's Favorite Split Pea recipe. When we started this diet my son was open to food changes but insisted we didn't mess with this recipe. Family's Favorite Split Pea recipe. When we started this diet my son was open to food changes but insisted we didn't mess with this recipe.

Ingredients

    6 medium Carrots; chopped
    3 medium Potatoes; chopped
    1 medum Onion; chopped
    1 Ham bone; cracked
    3 cups of cubed ham
    6 cups Water
    1 cup Split peas
    1/2 tsp Accent
    1/8 tsp Pepper

Directions

This recipe requires a 5-qt. crockpot. For a smaller pot, halve the recipe but use the same slow-cooking times. Combine veggies, ham bone, seasonings and water in slow cooker. I like to use the same water that I boiled the ham in. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hrs., then on LOW for 3-4 hrs. OR on LOW for 9-10 hrs. Remove ham bone.
