Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal

Introduction

Great low-sodium alternative to the instant variety! Great low-sodium alternative to the instant variety!
Number of Servings: 3

Ingredients

    3/4c. water
    1c. vanilla soy milk
    1 Tbsp. maple syrup
    1c. quick oats
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1/2 - 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

In a medium sauce pan, bring liquid ingredients to a boil.

While waiting for liquid to boil, combine oats, cinnamon, and brown sugar together in a small bowl.

Add oat mixture to boiling liquid. Continue boiling over med. high heat, stirring occasionally. After 2 minutes, cover pan and turn heat off. Keep stirring periodically. Serve when oatmeal reaches desired consistency.

For an added nutritional boost, sprinkle with 1 Tbsp. Flax seed.

Makes 3 servings.
