Ingredients

    1.5lbs (24oz) Lean ground beef (80/20)
    1 large egg, lightly beaten
    1/3 Cup Italian bread crumbs
    1/4 cup water
(optional) Italian seasoning and Nature's Seasons

1/2 box Barille whole wheat penne (3.5 servings), cooked and drained.
    1 Jar Ragu sauce
1 cup shredded colby jack, divided

Directions

Meatballs: In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, water, and optional seasoning. Form beef into 1 1/2 inch balls. Coat a large frying pan with 1tbsp canola or olive oil and place over medium high heat. Place meatballs in frying pan; turning each to brown evenly on all sides until cooked through.

In another large bowl, place cooked pasta and about 1/3 jar of Ragu sauce and mix together. After meatballs are finished cooking, place on paper towel to drain excess grease.
Spray an 8"x8" casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Place about half the meatballs in the bottom of the dish. Spoon 1/3 of jar of Ragu sauce over meat balls. Sprinkle half the cheese over top of meatballs. Place half the pasta and sauce mix evenly over meatballs. Repeat for the second layer, using the remainder of the meatballs, sauce, and pasta. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese on top.
Bake uncovered at 350 for about 20 minutes, or until heated through.
Makes 6 evenly divided servings.
