I used a cup of whole wheat flour instead and was still delicious! I didn't even need syrup! I was able to get 4 plate sized waffles out of this recipe. Thanks! - 7/28/11

These were great! My first batch came out a bit chewy, so I turned up the temp on my waffle maker and cooked the next batch a bit longer and they were more crisp.

They were really sweet as is, so I had mine with just a little butter spread on them and they were delish. Kids loved them too. - 6/13/11

This recipe is incredible! I've been looking for a waffle to replace my KrustEaze mix, and this is it! I used canola oil instead of applesauce, since that's all I had, and these were amazing! Crisp on the outside, light and FLUFFY on the inside! Yum! - 3/26/11

WOW!! I loved this recipe! I used Vanilla Almond milk instead of milk and only had cinnamon applesauce so used that. They were delish! My son noticed the cinnamon but liked it and I ate mine with natural peanut butter spread on it and folded it like a sandwich. This is a definite make again! - 11/5/10

These waffles tasted great! I added some malted milk powder to mine but otherwise followed the recipe. I too found the waffles to have a somewhat 'chewy' texture as opposed to super crispy. But who wants to eat super crispy waffles anyway? If I want crispy I eat bacon! - 8/9/10

My boys (2 and 6 years old) gave these a thumbs up!!! Replaced a few things based on what we had in the house -- whole wheat flour, rice milk (dairy intolerance), 4 oz mixed berry applesauce (skipped the extra sugar), added 1 tbsp. flax seed meal. I already ate, so will have to try another time! - 6/6/10

I enjoyed them, I found them more flavorful than traditional recipes, but they were a lot chewier and my family did not really care for them, so it's a toss-up as to whether I will make these again. - 1/30/10

  • Made a double batch and ended up with 6 large round waffles. I split them in half and put them in individual baggies in the freezer for quick breakfast for the kids. Also I used cinnamon applesauce and it added a hint of cinnamon flavor. - 12/2/13

  • Cooked these a couple of times already, love it. Tastes sweet, crispy out the waffle iron, gets soft after a few minutes. The correct serving size 3 (not 4) (3 large waffles). Usually we mix the ingredients for double amount, and store in fridge for next day. Add drops of milk if dough gets thick. - 5/27/13

  • I was drawn to this by simple ingredients. We liked but found them to be very sweet, perhaps because I used almond milk & 1/4 cup of meal from making homemade milk. I left them in the machine a bit longer to reduce the moisture. Will try fruit topping instead of Maple Syrup next time. Will make again. - 3/31/13
