Northern Beans Soup with bacon.

    4 cups Northern Beans
    6 sliced thick cut bacon, cut into small pieces
    1 medium onion, minced
    6 cloves garlic, minced
    2 cups chicken broth
    4 cups water
    1 tbsp salt
    2 tsp black pepper
    bay leaf


soak beans overnight in water. Drain and rinse beans. Place in large pot and cover with water. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to boil, lower heat to low, cover and simmer for 2 hours or until beans are done. Check at least every 30 minutes to make sure there is enough liquid in beans.
