Introduction

Poor man's recipe, very yummy. I prefere to use a crock pot, on low it takes about 6 to 7 hours. Poor man's recipe, very yummy. I prefere to use a crock pot, on low it takes about 6 to 7 hours.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 bag of pinto beans
    5 large carrots, sliced
    4 slices thick cut bacon
    1 tbs black pepper
    1 tbs onion powder
    *optional* 1 can of cooked pork
    8 cups water
    salt to taste

Directions

Soak beans over night, drain and rinse well. Add beans, carrots and water to large stock pot or crock pot. Cook bacon, cut into small pieces and add to soup, along with the pork (if desired). 2 hours in a stock pot or 6 hours in a crock pot (on low) add the spices. When beans at desired tenderness remove from heat and enjoy.

Serving Size: recipe makes approximately 6 1 1/2 cups servings
