BBQ Ribz

Submitted by: JENNYMACK422

Introduction

I got this recipe from the blog "Yeah, That Vegan S**t" (with s**t actually spelled out *grin*).
VERY VERY VERY VERY MESSY TO MAKE!! You have been warned.
I have been thinking about trying them with other kinds of sauces but with the BBQ sauce they're so tasty, that I just haven't been able to bring myself to try anything else.

Number of Servings: 5

Ingredients

    1 cup vital wheat gluten
    2/3 cup water
    2 tblsp vegan butter substitute**
    3 tblsp creamy peanut butter
    7 tblsp nutritional yeast
spices to taste (onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt & pepper)
    1 cup BBQ sauce

**NOTE: can use real butter, light butter, or margarine and it won't affect the outcome, just will be vegetarian instead of vegan. I have made these with all of them and they've tasted awesome every time so use whatever you have.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Heat butter & peanut butter in small pan, melt down and remove from heat.
In bowl, mix dry ingredients.
Add water & knead until absorbed. (Don't over knead)
Form dough into lump. Add half the peanut butter mixture & knead / pull the dough.
Add 2nd half of mixture, kneading & pulling the dough.
Pull off pieces, roll between palms, and place on on lightly oiled baking sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes.
Remove, flip over over pieces, brush on sauce & bake 5 min.
Remove, flip over, brush on sauce, bake 5 more min.
Serve!

Love having this with corn on the cob or other summer veggies.
