'Hamburger' Gravy

Introduction

Served over mashed potatoes or a piece of toast, this is pure comfort food. This is a toned down version of my mother's recipe which used real hamburger and whole milk. Served over mashed potatoes or a piece of toast, this is pure comfort food. This is a toned down version of my mother's recipe which used real hamburger and whole milk.
Number of Servings: 7

Ingredients

    1 lb. ground turkey burger
    3 links - hot Italian turkey sausage
    1/3 cup flour
    1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
    1.5 cups skim milk
    1 tsp beef bouillion powder
    1 tsp sea salt
    1 tsp pepper
    1 tsp dried onion or 1/2 tsp onion powder
    1/2 tsp garlic powder

Directions

Brown ground turkey burger and turkey sausage together in a pan, drain. Skim any fat from meat juices and return remaining juice to the pan. Stir in flour and then the soup. Gradually add milk while continuing to stir. Add all spices. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Goes well served over mashed potatoes with a side of green beans for supper, or served over toast with a scrambled egg for breakfast.

Serving Size: Makes 7 (1/2 cup) servings
