Lentil Rice Stew

Introduction

Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 cup brown lentils
    1 cup medium grain brown rice
    1 large onion, chopped
    6 cups water
    salt and pepper to taste
    Options
    =Braggs
    =Carrots
    =Celery
    =Dice Tomatoes

Directions

If necessary, pick through lentils and remove any grit. Wash.

Combine lentils, rice, onion and water.
Bring to a boil.
Skim off impurities if necessary
Cover and lower heat to simmer

Cook for 45 - 50 minutes. To be safe, check the cooking time for the lentils and the rice. If either is more than 50 minutes use that cooking time.

Serving Size: Makes 4 hearty bowls of lentil rice stew
