Ingredients
-
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. Crisco
1/4 c. ice water
Directions
Freeze butter and shortening for 15 minutes.
In food processor, mix flour and salt. Chop butter and add to processor. Pulse 5 or 6 times until it is the consistency of meal. Add chopped shortening. Pulse 3 or 4 times.
Spritz the entire top of the mixture with water. Pulse 5 or 6 times. Repeat until the mixture sticks together when pressed between fingers. (do NOT add too much water! Then it just gets sticky)
Pour into a plastic bag and seal. Press into a ball and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Roll using a small amount of flour. Bake as needed for recipe. If baking unfilled, line crust with parchment paper then fill with dry beans to keep it from lifting away from the pan.
