Minced Beef and Onions with Mash Potato

Introduction

A dish my mum has been making me since I was little. Lovely on a winters night, or when you want some stodgy food. A dish my mum has been making me since I was little. Lovely on a winters night, or when you want some stodgy food.

Ingredients

    600grams ground beef
    2 large onions, sliced thinly
    8 large potatoes
    1 oxo cube (to taste)
    portion of bisto gravy

extra - if you want, you can make puff pastry or short crust pastry to go on top (use ready made frozen)

Directions

First fry the onions in a frying pan, so they are browned and add to a large pan.

The fry the ground beef to brown it also and add to the pan of onions.

A 1 oxo cube and water covering the beef and onions and bring to boil. Then simmer for 45 minutes.

Thicken the juice in the pan with a portion of bisto gravy (bisto powder and water) mixing it with the beef and onions.

The pour into a casserole dish and place in the oven for about 45 minutes at 200'c. (Do not stir, allow the skin to form on top of the pie.)

Whilst this is in the oven, boil the potatoes and then mash them. (Put the pastry in the oven also)

Then serve the pie and mash :)
