Spaghetti Sauce with Zucchini and Mushrooms

Introduction

This is a low fat version of spaghetti sauce using ground turkey instead of ground beef. This is a low fat version of spaghetti sauce using ground turkey instead of ground beef.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    8 oz. 93% lean ground turkey
    1/2 cup diced onion
    4 tsp. Italian seasoning
    2 tsp. garlic powder
    1.5 tsp. onion powder
    1 small can mushroom stems and pieces, well drained
    1 cup quartered and sliced zucchini
    1 can Del Monte Italian Italian stewed tomatoes, pureed
    1 can Hunt's diced tomatoes, pureed

Directions

Brown ground turkey and onion in bottom of a 2 quart sauce pan over medium heat with 2 tsp. Italian seasoning, 1 tsp. garlic powder and 1 tsp. onion powder. Add mushrooms and zucchini. Cook until turkey is done. Drain of grease. Pour in pureed tomatoes and stir to combine. Add remaining seasonings. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer uncovered for about an hour. Serve over your favorite pasta.
