Date Almond Granola Bars

Ingredients

    1/2 cup canola oil or unsalted butter,melted
    1/2 cup honey
    4 cups quick rolled oats, uncooked
    1 cup dated or raisins
    1 tsp cinnamon
    3 medium or 2 large egg whites

Directions

Makes: two dozen bars
1-prheat oven and grease 9"x13" bakin pan.
2-thoroughly blend over very low heat with wire wisk: oil and honey
3-in a large mixing bowl blend oats and cinnamon; stir in oil-honey mixture until evenly distributed with fork or a metal spoon: oats, almonds, dates, and cinn.
4-beat egg whites until stiff but not dry with electric mixer
5-fold beaten egg whites into granola mixture
6-prss mixture into pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
7-remove from oven and prss down with rubber spatula. cool and cut into bars

  • If you go into nutritional break down and figure quantity of almonds by that t looks like about 1 cup of slivered almonds is what you would need. Sounds like a simple but tasty recipe. :) - 5/21/12
