Low-fat Spicy Hummus

Introduction

Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    1 15.5-oz can Low-sodium garbanzo beans, drained
    1/2 Fresh lemon, squeezed
    2 tbsp Plain, fat-free yogurt
    3-5 cloves Fresh garlic, peeled
    1/2 tsp Salt
    1/4 cup Water
    1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper
    1 tbsp Extra-light olive oil

Directions

Heat the desired amount of garlic (according to taste) in microwave for approximately 30-40 seconds or until soft. Drain garbanzo beans (rinse to remove excess sodium), and combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Blend until consistent.

To reduce fat content- leave out olive oil and replace with the garbanzo bean liquid.
To reduce sodium content- leave out salt and rinse garbanzo beans thoroughly before blending.




Serving Size: makes 16 2-tbsp servings
