HealthierLynn's Crockpot Orange Chicken

Introduction

Quick and easy, Baby....the way dinner ought to be!! Quick and easy, Baby....the way dinner ought to be!!
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    4 lg. chicken breasts, boneless, skinless (approx. 3.5 lbs.)
    6 Tbsp. Flour
    2/3 c. Smuckers Sugar Free Orange Marmalade
    2/3 c. Jack Daniel's BBQ Sauce
    4 Tbsp. Kikkoman Light Soy Sauce
    2 Tbsp. Ginger, fresh grated (or jarred)

Directions

Put chicken and flour into a bag and toss together. Place the chicken in the crockpot. Add the rest of the ingredients, cover and cook on low for 6 - 8 hours, or on high for 3 - 4 hours.

Yields 8 servings.

    Great taste... but this is not a recipe that you can leave all day... My work day is longer than 8 hours and it got dry.... I will make it again when I can cook it fir the right amount of time... - 9/28/11

    I don't like how the recipe claims half a chicken breast is a "serving". I put in considerably less ginger and served it with salad. "Orange chicken" at a Chinese buffet is basically orange jello on chicken - of course this isn't going to be like that! This, however, is very easy to make and tasty. - 7/3/10

    I made this last night. It was good, although I agree with the others that maybe the name should be altered a bit. It doesn't really taste like the orange chicken you're used to. But it was still good. - 4/17/08

    I really liked this. It's more like a pulled pork bbq thing than the asian orange chicken, but it's very good served on rice. My whole family liked it. - 2/16/08

    My kids & I loved this recipe. I thought the orange Marmalade was a little tangy for me so I will use a little less next time but awesome!!! I also made it with diced pork for a different taste. - 1/15/08

  • This was excellent! My family loved it. Super tender and flavorful. On first taste the bbq sauce overwhelmed the dish, so I added more marmalade and left the crock-pot on warm for another hour. Much better. Next time I will use a full cup of marmalade. - 6/10/14

  • Definitely more ginger (for my palate) and a sweeter bbq suace, but it was amazing! I'm always looking for a way to add citrus-y flavours to my dish and this was one of them. Do mind the cooking time, though. You might get away with dark meat, but this amount of time and white meat is no good. - 5/17/14

  • I was really excited about this recipe, but it didnt taste anything like orange chicken. It had very little flavor (I followed the directions exactly) and it was more a weird BBQ flavor than anything. I'll try it one more time and maybe tweek the ingredients. - 5/4/11

    I love orange flavored everything, even after reading the reviews I knew it wouldn't be like the orange chix I'm used to, but my husband, my kids, and I all disliked this...I don't know if it was the ginger, or what, but something was waaay off. Want to add that I only used 1/2 Tbsp. of the ginger.. - 7/16/08

  • I love orange chicken, and I love chicken made in the crockpot, but eating orange chicken that is "soft" is just odd!!! My kids hated it. I mixed my chicken in the vegetable fried rice recipe from this site and that made it edible. - 1/9/08

  • It was really good! I used Cattlemen's BBQ sauce because I already had it on hand, and that probably made a difference. Next time I'll make it with the JD! :) I made HealthierLynn's Non-Fried Rice to go with it, and it was a great combination! - 12/8/07
