Mixed Grain Hot Cereal

Introduction

Great served hot with extra fresh or dried fruit. Freezes well. Very hearty way to start the day!

Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    Steel Cut Oats, dry, 1 cup
    Old Fashioned Oats, 0.5 cup
    Wheat bran, crude, .25 cup
    Flax Seed Meal (ground flax), 4 tbsp
    Raisins, .5 cup (not packed)
    Cranberries, dried, sweetened 0.25 cup
    Almonds, .25 cup, sliced or crudely chopped
    Salt, 1 tsp
    Water, tap, 4 cup

Directions

Bring water to a boil. Meanwhile, mix dry ingredients together.
Add dry ingredients to water. Return to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 12 - 15 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Freezes well in small individual-sized containers.
