Maple Walnut Cake

Submitted by: SISSYFEB48

Introduction

Not a light airy cake you may be thinking of, but a denser kind of cake. Good drizzled with maple syrup while hot, then when cool, cut into bars. Not a light airy cake you may be thinking of, but a denser kind of cake. Good drizzled with maple syrup while hot, then when cool, cut into bars.

Ingredients

    3/4 cup Butter
    1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
    1/2 cup Maple Syrup
    3 Eggs, fresh
    1/2 tsp Salt
    3 tsp Baking Powder
    2 cups white Flour
    1/4 cup Milk, 1%
    1/2 cup chopped Walnuts

Directions

Cream butter and sugar; beat in maple syrup and vanilla. Add eggs, beating til smooth. Sift together the flour salt and baking powder. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Stir in walnuts. (Will be a thick batter) Spread evenly in two greased and floured 8 inch cake pans. (I used square just for a change and to make it easier to cut). Bake at 375 for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from pans after 5 minutes drizzle with additional maple syrup and finish cooling on racks. Cut each cake into 18 pieces. I did thirds, each third into half, then 3 from each half.
