Stew Beef in the Crockpot

Submitted by: ONEYEARTOTHIRTY

Introduction

A nice, hardy stew served over white rice. Goes great with steamed cabbage and a side of pickled beets. I divide the dish into six servings. Hardier eaters might divide the stew into four. Ingredients

    1 tablespoon of olive oil
1/2 a large yellow onion, finely diced
    1 clove of garlic, minced
    1 tablespoon of white flour
1 pound of beef stew meat
Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix (One Packet)
    1/2 cup of Red Wine
    2 cups of water

Directions

Heat oil over medium heat in a large sauté pan. Add onion and garlic, stirring frequently until the onions are clear and soft. Add the onion into a crockpot sprayed with cooking spray.
Toss the beef with the flour and then add to the warm pan. Sear the meat quickly just giving it a nice brown color on the outside. Add the meat to the crockpot. Mix Lipton Soup mix, red wine, and water. Pour over the meat. OPTIONAL: Fresh rosemary on top.
Turn crock pot on low for 8 hours. Enjoy over white rice (will change nutritional value)
